Reflections on Bauma Bauma 2007 hit an all-time record with 500 000 visitors - an increase of almost 20 percent compared to 2004. Besides the enormous size of the event, it was striking how few actual novelties were introduced, at least in the area of precast. The sector still consists of many small enterprises, whose capacity to deliver on a large scale is limited. The average size of construction projects has grown since the previous Bauma; customers are larger and their factory units bigger, providing them with better possibilities to develop operations and to succeed, compared to smaller units.

Precast trends at Bauma Although Bauma 2007 broke all previous visitor records, it was perhaps a bit surprising to note that the precast business in general had very little new to display and few revolutionary elements in the presentation of existing products. Only a handful of exhibitors had the courage to do things differently. Among these, Elematic was in the front with an unforeseen Bauma concept: no actual machinery was displayed at the stands! But how did people react to this novel idea? And where is the precast industry heading? This and much more was asked and answered during one hectic week at the world's largest construction fair.
